Winter, Bell Company receives prestigious
award from Philip Morris USA

Winter, Bell Company, a High Point based
paper and packaging specialty company, received the most prestigious
Gold Level Crown of Excellence Award from Philip Morris USA Inc. at a
“Crown of Excellence” recognition gala on Wednesday evening, April 6,
2005. The Gold Level Award is the highest recognition any Direct
Materials Supplier of Philip Morris USA can receive.
The award was presented at the University of Richmond Jepson Alumni
Center in Richmond, Virginia, the city in which Philip Morris USA has
its headquarters. Awards were presented at the annual black tie gala
held by PM USA.
Mr. Rick L. Lewis, President of Winter, Bell, accepted the award from
Mr. Jack Nelson, President Operations and Technology who was
accompanied in presenting the award by Mr. Richard Kelly, Vice
President Purchasing and Mr. Craig Stariha, Director, Direct Materials
Purchasing, Philip Morris USA Inc.
The award program requires that a supplier demonstrate exceptional
performance in the areas of Quality, Cost, Security & Technology and
Delivery & Service. The supplier must maintain this performance
throughout one entire calendar year to be considered for an award.
This was Winter, Bell’s third award
in the last three years. The program was initiated by Philip Morris
USA Inc. in 2000. Winter, Bell’s two awards prior to the Gold Level
where both at the Silver Level.
After being presented with the award, Mr. Lewis said in his remarks,
“I would like to accept this award on behalf of all the Winter, Bell
team. Their diligent efforts have lead us to this moment.”
Mr. Lewis went on to say, “I would like to thank Philip Morris for
this award. There is nothing, absolutely nothing more honorable than
to receive recognition from our single-most valued customer whose name
and products are known worldwide.”
Winter, Bell Company has been providing materials to Philip Morris USA
Inc. over the past 27+ years.
